O'Bleness Memorial Hospital is a teaching site for new physicians. We welcome physicians from all over the country to be a part of our internship programs; our residency programs in family practice, dermatology, and obstetrics and gynecology; and our "Plus One" residency training in neuromusculoskeletal medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine.

 

In conjunction with their post-graduate medical education at O'Bleness, intern and resident physicians have a patient practice at the O'Bleness Family Medicine & Women's Health Center at O'Bleness West, 444 West Union Street in Athens.

 

The Center offers comprehensive family medical care for patients of all ages from newborn to the elderly. Family practice resident physicians provide medical care to patients under the direct supervision of physicians who are faculty members in the Department of Family Medicine of the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-COM). The Center is open weekdays.

 

Resident physicians who specialize in obstetrics and gynecology provide an alternative resource for gynecological care for uninsured women and girls. Resident physicians at the Center offer preventative health and wellness care as well as examinations and tests to detect and treat bladder incontinence, osteoporosis, sexually transmitted diseases and cancer. They are supervised by physicians associated with River Rose Obstetrics and Gynecology. Residents also provide obstetric care at River Rose and deliver babies at O'Bleness' Birth Center.
