River Rose Obstetrics and Gynecology is a specialty group practice providing compassionate and personalized medical care, and helping women of all ages maintain and improve their health.

 

Jane Broecker, M.D.; Michael Clark, D.O.; Jack Ramey, D.O.; and certified nurse midwife Laura (Lou) Boyle, C.N.M., C.N.P., provide pediatric, adolescent and adult gynecological care, and also deliver babies in O'Bleness Memorial Hospital's Birth Center. In addition, Bruce Banias, M.D., provides management and pregnancy care for high risk patients, which may allow for delivery at O'Bleness.

 

Detection and treatment of bladder incontinence, osteoporosis, sexually transmitted diseases, cancer and gestational diabetes are also offered. To assist with prompt diagnosis and treatment, a specialized ultrasound is available on site that shows a fetus in 3D/4D and Ultrascreen - the only non-invasive test in the region that screens for genetic problems in a pregnancy's first trimester.

 

River Rose offers a variety of new services including minimally invasive laparoscopic hysterectomy, a procedure that has a typical recovery time of less than a week. The new Gardasil vaccine that offers protection from the virus responsible for most cases of cervical cancer is available. Other services include laparoscopic surgery to treat bladder incontinence; the Implanon procedure - the first and only three-year implantable birth control; Essure - a scarless, permanent sterilization; hormone replacement implants for women who have had a hysterectomy; and a lactation (breastfeeding) counselor.

 

River Rose physicians provide surgical care at the Athens Surgery Center as well as at O'Bleness.
